Schréder Becomes Sole Shareholder of Photinus, Strengthening its Position as a Global Leader in Connected Solar Lighting

Schréder Becomes Sole Shareholder of Photinus, Strengthening its Position as a Global Leader in Connected Solar Lighting – 8th April 2026.

Brussels – Schréder, the world leader in smart outdoor lighting solutions, announces the successful completion of the remaining 51% stake in Photinus, becoming the sole shareholder of the company.

This milestone marks a new chapter for Photinus within the Schréder Group, where they will lead as our dedicated solar competence centre. Our teams will continue to collaborate closely, fusing renewable energy and smart digital infrastructure to provide intelligent, solar-powered lighting solutions worldwide.

“Today marks a decisive step in our commitment to advance the future of urban environments,” comments Philippe Felten, CEO of Schréder. “By combining Photinus’ pioneering technology with our expertise in connectivity, we are turning light into a resilient, intelligent asset. We are now uniquely positioned to provide the reliable, carbon-neutral systems our customers need to meet their climate goals with absolute confidence.”

Since joining forces with Photinus in 2024, we have integrated their high-efficiency solar technology with our Schréder EXEDRA IoT platform, setting a new standard for aesthetic, sustainable infrastructure. This integration is underpinned by several recently filed patents that represent significant progress in how solar lighting is managed and connected. These proprietary innovations allow us to optimise energy harvesting and smart communication in ways previously thought impossible, providing the groundwork for the next generation of resilient lighting solutions.

Through this combined expertise, we are already delivering:

Sustainable performance in an elegant form
Schréder’s photometric precision and Photinus’ solar proficiency create a highly effective platform for all applications, ranging from urban centres to transport networks. Our solar solutions are designed to be as visually refined as they are technically robust. A hallmark of this range is its minimalist, integrated design, where high-efficiency solar modules are seamlessly incorporated into the lighting column itself. This eliminates the need for bulky external panels, allowing the infrastructure to blend harmoniously into any environment.

Safety even in challenging climates
Engineered for strategic autonomy, our connected solar lighting solutions ensure consistent high-quality light in all types of weather conditions and environments. They provide energy resilience in environments facing infrastructure challenges or unpredictable power supplies. By offering total independence from traditional energy networks, they ensure safety in public spaces and provide peace of mind.

Intelligence that moves with people
Our light-on-demand solar lighting solutions enable customers to only light spaces where and when it is needed. Using advanced sensors, the system provides users with a safe path while maintaining deep dimming profiles during periods of inactivity. This precision, combined with real-time monitoring of battery health and performance, significantly reduces energy consumption, carbon emissions and light pollution, helping cities and organisations achieve their sustainability goals.

Value-driven asset management
Integration with the Schréder EXEDRA platform unlocks connected value asset information that provides managers with real-time visibility into system health, including detailed battery performance monitoring and predictive maintenance data. By turning solar lighting into a managed digital asset with detailed analytics, we help cities and organisations optimise their operational costs and ensure the long-term viability of their solar infrastructure.

Martin Kessler, CEO of Photinus explains, “The acquisition of the remaining 51% interest is a natural next step that enables us to bring our specialised solar expertise to a global stage. We will continue to innovate with Schréder’s teams and leverage their international footprint to deliver the smarter, more resilient infrastructure our customers require.”

As we move forward, Photinus will continue to serve its long-standing customers and partners directly, maintaining the trusted relationships and specialised service that have been built over the years.

This acquisition is a significant step forward in the evolution of urban infrastructure, demonstrating that the integration of data, design and renewable energy can solve complex modern-day challenges.
