Sustainable Benefits Attract And Retain Staff

Ethical values are influencing the employment decisions of almost half of UK office workers. Recent research by KPMG and AMBA has found that an employer’s commitment to ESG values impacts how their employees view the company with some acting with their feet if it fails to align with their own views.

HR leaders should pay close attention to the ESG commitments of their organisation when recruiting and retaining talent. When considering a job offer, prospective employees are likely to research the steps a potential employer is taking to reduce its environmental impact and how social value is embedded across the organisation. Many will reject a job offer if the values don’t align with their own and find alternative roles with a better fit.

Benefits are key for retention

Recent research has shown that 75% of employees would stay with their current employer because of the range and variety of staff benefits offered. It’s clear, in order to recruit key talent and boost employee engagement, it’s important to get the mix of employee benefits right.

It’s never been more important to have ESG and sustainability represented in your benefits portfolio. This is where the Cycle to Work Scheme can become a key part of your employee rewards package, adding sustainability into the benefits mix.

Active travel rewards

Cycling is booming due to the climate, health and financial crises. The number of people choosing to commute to work by bike is rapidly increasing and employers need to support this choice.
The Cycle to Work Scheme is a sustainable and self-funding employee benefit using salary sacrifice to access tax savings. Through award-winning scheme provider, Green Commute Initiative (GCI), employees have access to savings of 32-47% on any type of bike, including ebikes and cargo bikes. There are no “ownership fees” to make a dent in the savings either.

Public sector experience

GCI currently works with numerous NHS Trusts, blue light services, councils, educational establishments and central government agencies. This is all off-framework as these organisations recognise the value that working with GCI brings to both them and their employees. However, if your organisation only works off frameworks, then news just in is that GCI is now on the Crown Commercial Services framework agreement.

GCI prides itself on excellent customer service which is reinforced through its ISO-9001 and ISO-27001 certifications. Depending on the agreed payment terms, turnaround time is usually 24 to 48 hours from point of application approval. Check out our Trustpilot reviews.

GCI’s scheme is HMRC and FCA compliant and the team will advise the most tax-efficient way to use the scheme to ensure maximum possible savings are achieved. Employer savings of 13.8% can be used to cover any costs incurred in the administration of the scheme. However, some employers choose to pass on their NI saving to the employee to enable them to make hugely significant savings.

GCI also offers the Green Bike Pool Initiative which installs ebike pools into organisation who wish for work-based travel to be carried out on ebikes and /or ecargo bikes.
